The Chickasha High School wrestling program has cemented its place in Oklahoma sports history with a season of unprecedented dominance that has left fans, coaches, and competitors in awe.
The Fightin’ Chicks captured the trifecta of championships this seasonโwinning the 5A Team State Championship, 5A Dual State Championship, and 5A West Regional Championshipโall while maintaining a perfect 15-0 record in dual meets.
This remarkable group of young men demonstrated exceptional work ethic, character, determination, and Fightin’ Chick pride throughout the season. Their head coach was named 5A Coach of the Year for guiding the team to this historic run.
The team’s dominance was particularly evident at the Dual State tournament, where they set 5A records for points scored, demolishing the competition and proving themselves as not just the greatest team in Chickasha history, but one of the most formidable 5A programs Oklahoma has seen in recent years.
Individual Success Stories
At the heart of the team’s success were its performers, with several wrestlers earning state titles:
- Cash Bratt captured a state championship
- Jarrett Patty dominated his weight class to win gold
- Colby Longanacre earned his place as a state champion
Four Fightin’ Chicks earned state runner-up honors: Canaan Brummett, Clint Longanacre, Dylan Bratt, and Ayden Benitez.
Cole Beier and Marley Scott both placed fourth at the state tournament, while Noah Knight, Joshua Moore, Tyren Alexander, and Quentin Benitez all qualified for the prestigious event.
More Than Just Athletes
The team’s excellence extended beyond the mat. With a collective GPA of 3.6, these student-athletes demonstrated that academic achievement and athletic dominance can go hand-in-hand.
Throughout the season, the wrestlers faced considerable pressure but consistently rose to the challenge, shining time and again when it mattered most. Their hard work and determination were rewarded with historic results that have made the entire Chickasha community proud.
Legacy Secured
For the team’s graduating seniors, their high school careers ended in the most satisfying way possibleโas champions. Though they will be missed, they leave having “started and orchestrated the Greatest Fightin’ Chick Team of All Time,” as one supporter put it.
Their legacy is now permanently written in the history books as 5A Team State Champions, with records that may stand for years to come.
As the community celebrates this remarkable achievement, one thing is certain: the 2024-25 Chickasha wrestling team will be remembered as the standard by which future success is measuredโnot just in wrestling, but in all of Chickasha athletics.
